Parañaque suspends enforcers who manhandled vendor
MANILA, Philippines — Parañaque Mayor Edwin Olivarez suspended yesterday the members of the city task force who were caught on video manhandling a vendor during a clearing operation last week.
Olivarez said he placed the traffic enforcers under preventive suspension pending results of the investigation.
The video uploaded by ABS-CBN News shows enforcers tackling the vendor to the ground when he tried to prevent them from taking his cart.
The vendor was also kicked in the face by one of the traffic enforcers.
“I told the traffic enforcers to implement maximum tolerance during road clearing operations,” Olivarez said.
He said traffic enforcers are not allowed to take the vendors’ goods.
