Kasambahay with COVID-19 eligible for ECC benefits

MANILA, Philippines — Household helpers or kasambahays infected with COVID-19 are eligible to avail themselves of the cash assistance program of the Employees’ Compensation Commission (ECC), a Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) official said on Friday.

DOLE Bureau of Workers with Special Concerns director Karen Trayvilla said during a briefing that household helpers may apply for P10,000 cash aid and are entitled to daily income benefits amounting to P480 per day for up to 14 days.

Trayvilla added that workers can also avail themselves of medical reimbursement for their COVID-19 treatment.

Under the ECC cash assistance program, employees who contracted COVID-19 may also avail themselves of benefit assistance from the agency.
