MANILA, Philippines — Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Debold Sinas yesterday sacked from their posts two police officers from the Eastern Police District (EPD) who tested positive for drug use.
Pat. Arnel Agustin, assigned with the EPD’s district human resource and doctrine development office, and Cpl. Regie Atilano of the Pasig City police station, were disarmed and placed under restrictive custody.
The two were among the 76 police officers who underwent random drug tests on Jan. 13. Confirmatory testing of their urine samples showed them positive for methamphetamine hydrochloride use.
“We will not stop until we completely cleanse the police force of drug-using members,” Sinas said in a statement.
Sinas also ordered the fasttracking of pre-charge investigation and summary dismissal proceedings against the policemen.
He earlier said police officers found to be drug users should be dismissed from the service within two months.
