Caraga cop positive for drug use

Emmanuel Tupas - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Debold Sinas ordered yesterday the fast-tracking of pre-charge investigation and summary dismissal proceedings against a police officer in Caraga who tested positive for drug use.

Cpl. John Ibasco of the regional logistics and research division is among the 332 policemen who underwent random drug tests on Tuesday. He was disarmed and relieved from his post.

“I ordered to expand random drug testing of all police personnel to rid the organization of drug-using cops. There is no place in the PNP for them,” Sinas said.

The PNP chief had earlier said police officers who tested positive for illegal drugs must be dismissed within two months.
