MANILA, Philippines — A former policeman previously charged for illegal drugs was killed by six suspects on three motorcycles in Barangay Old Balara, Quezon City over the weekend.

Rodolfo Aspril, 60, was shot dead near a gas station along Commonwealth Avenue, Quezon City Police District (QCPD) chief Brig. Gen. Danilo Macerin said in a report.

According to initial investigation, Aspril was on a motorcycle along with Lea Ross, 42, when one of the gunmen fired at them, killing him on the spot.

Police said the unidentified suspects took Aspril’s motorcycle then fled.

Ross was unhurt in the attack.

Probers said they recovered eight empty bullets for a .45-caliber handgun at the scene.

Macerin said the QCPD was conducting an investigation to identify the suspects and determine the motive for the killing.

Meanwhile, two suspected carjackers were killed in an encounter with police in Novaliches on Sunday.

Authorities have yet to identify the slain suspects.
