MANILA, Philippines — Toll road operator NLEX Corp. and the Valenzuela City government have come to an agreement on the solutions that would be implemented to address traffic problems at the North Luzon Expressway’s toll plazas.

In a statement yesterday, NLEX said among the immediate operational traffic solutions they agreed upon are the transfer of RFID sticker installation and account reloading transactions away from the toll gates.

The firm committed to add new RFID toll lanes at its Karuhatan and Mindanao Avenue toll plazas, which will allow existing current RFID users to have better access to the RFID lanes and improve their travel time.

For motorists still needing RFID stickers, NLEX said the installation site at Karuhatan toll plaza would be relocated to the Santolan overpass area in the expressway.

The installation site at the Mindanao Avenue toll plaza will also be relocated about 500 meters in the expressway near the Que Grande overpass area.

NLEX said motorist requests for account reloading will be entertained after the toll gates and will be transacted after entry.

“It was agreed that these measures will minimize the bottlenecks at the Karuhatan and Mindanao (Avenue) toll gates and achieve a more efficient use of the limited road space specially during rush hours,” NLEX said.
