MANILA, Philippines — At least 8,903 motorists were apprehended for traffic violations by police officers of the Highway Patrol Group in recent operations this month, HPG director Brig. Gen. Alexander Tagum said yesterday.
Among the most common violations are disregarding traffic signs and using cell phones when driving. The apprehensions were made during the implementation of Oplan Lambat Bitag Sasakyan across the country on Dec. 2 and 10.
Tagum did not say how many violators were from Metro Manila.
President Duterte recently ordered the Philippine National Police to intensify law enforcement operations against riding-in tandem criminals.
