MANILA, Philippines — The Manila government has acquired 12 high-end ambulances from the United States, which will be distributed to six public hospitals in the city.

Mayor Isko Moreno said the vehicles, called Advanced Cardiac Life Support Ambulance, would be useful in this time of health crisis.

Some of the ambulances will be delivered to the Manila Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office for quick mobilization during emergencies, Moreno said.

City hall spent P300 million for the acquisition of the ambulances.

Moreno said each ambulance is considered as a mini-hospital and would be supervised by doctors and licensed medical personnel.

Meanwhile, the Sta. Ana Hospital was awarded the Gawad Bayaning Kalusugan during the Philippine Health Association convention on Sunday.

The hospital has so far admitted 1,149 COVID-19 patients. Of the figure, 791 have recovered from the disease.
