MANILA, Philippines — The Bureau of Customs has seized 38 packages containing 75 poker chip sets and other gambling paraphernalia, a BOC official said yesterday.
The BOC coordinated with the Philippine Postal Corp. to intercept the parcels, most of them from Taiwan, as they arrived at the Central Mail Exchange Center at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).
The parcels arrived without the necessary permits from the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp., BOC-NAIA district collector Mimel Talusan said.
The seized gambling paraphernalia will be turned over to the BOC’s auction and cargo disposal division pending forfeiture proceedings.
