MANILA, Philippines — The country’s second most wanted kidnapping suspect was apprehended in Las Piñas City on Wednesday.
Elpidio Edusma was arrested by members of the police Anti-Kidnapping Group in Barangay Pulang Lupa, AKG director Brig. Gen. Jonnel Estomo said in a report.
Policemen served a warrant on Edusma for kidnapping issued by Judge Ethelwolda Jaravata of the Agoo, La Union Regional Trial Court Branch 32.
Estomo said Edusma was a member of the Lappay kidnap-for-ransom group based in Ilocos region.
Edusma was among the suspects tagged in the kidnapping of businessman Rick Caccay in 2014.
Probers said the kidnappers allegedly demanded P5 million in exchange for Caccay’s release, but eventually settled for P700,00.
