MANILA, Philippines — The decomposing body of a man, believed to be a victim of summary execution, was found floating in Manila Bay yesterday afternoon.
The victim was beyond recognition since the body was bloated, but lacerations on the neck were still apparent, according to Manila Police District investigator S/Sgt. John Paul Rojo.
The victim’s mouth was also stuffed with a piece of cloth but there were no other visible injuries when they found the body at around 2 p.m.
Earlier, the MPD homicide section received a report that the crew of a passing vessel noticed the cadaver floating in the Manila Bay anchorage area.
“We can only record the incident but the investigation will be highly dependent on if there are people who will claim the remains of the victim,” Rojo said.
