Makati sends additional aid to Marikina

MANILA, Philippines — The Makati government has deployed additional rescue equipment to Marikina to help the city recover from the onslaught of Typhoon Ulysses, Mayor Abby Binay said yesterday.

Binay said they sent another tanker, a penetrator fire truck, a pickup truck and a mobile water filtration system to Marikina on Tuesday.

On Monday, Makati deployed a mobile kitchen and a water tanker to the Marikina city hall.

The mobile kitchen can produce at least 800 meals per operation, Binay said.

She said the water tanker distributed water to areas where supply has been cut in the aftermath of the typhoon.

A rescue team composed of nine personnel, along with two boats, a search and rescue vehicle and an ambulance were also mobilized by Makati to assist Marikina residents affected by Typhoon Ulysses.

“We understand that our neighbor needs all the help it can get to recover from the crisis. We hope that in our own small way, we can ease the day-to-day lives of the typhoon victims while they are in evacuation centers,” Binay said.

Earlier, the Muntinlupa government donated P11 million in cash to Marikina and other typhoon-ravaged areas including Albay, Catanduanes, Camarines Sur, Batangas, Oriental Mindoro and Cagayan.
