PDEA destroys P12 million drugs
MANILA, Philippines — Around P12 million worth of illegal drugs was destroyed by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in Cebu City yesterday.
The prohibited narcotics consisting of 22,629.32 grams of shabu, 194 Ecstasy pills, marijuana and one milliliter of nubain were disposed at the thermal facility of the Cosmopolitan Funeral Homes in Barangay Kalubihan.
Levi Ortiz, who heads the PDEA Central Visayas field office, said the destruction of the drugs was in compliance with President Duterte’s directive to destroy prohibited narcotics in custody of the police.
Kagawad shot dead
In Negros Occidental, a barangay kagawad, who was on the drug watchlist, was gunned down by two motorcycle-riding assailants on Thursday.
Mario Negro, councilor of Barangay Lopez Jaena in Sagay City, was pronounced dead on arrival in the hospital.
Maj. Albert Sy, Sagay City police officer-in-charge, said Negro was categorized as a high-value drug target. – Gilbert Bayoran
