MANILA, Philippines — At least 40 families were left homeless after a fire struck Barangay Culiat in Quezon City yesterday.

The Bureau of Fire Protection said the blaze broke out at a three-story residential building in Lower Forestry at around 11:35 a.m.

The fire, which reached the first alarm, was declared under control at around 2:16 p.m.

Around 25 firetrucks responded to the scene.

Fire inspectors said while there were no injuries, the fire destroyed some 20 houses.

Damage to property was placed at P100,000.

Arson probers said they have yet to establish the cause of the fire.
