P150 million shabu seized in Cebu

Ghio Ong, Neil Jayson Servallos - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — At least 22.1 kilos of shabu stashed in tea bags worth P150.2 million were seized from a ”high-value” drug suspect in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu on Wednesday.

Police said Gilbert Lumanog, 30, was arrested in a sting in Barangay Suba Basbas at about 4:30 p.m.

Central Visayas police director Brig. Gen. Albert Ferro said the suspect, who is a former university professor in Cebu City, is on the drug watchlist in the region.

“This is the biggest haul of drugs in my stint as the regional director of the Central Visayas police. I congratulate my men for this huge success in our war against drugs,” Ferro said.

Personnel of the Quezon City and Central Visayas police conducted the operation after receiving reports that a black sedan has been delivering shabu from Quezon City to Cebu City every two weeks.
