MANILA, Philippines — Around 50 Highway Patrol Group police officers were deployed along EDSA as a deterrent to criminals, HPG director Brig. Gen. Alexander Tagum said yesterday.
These police officers will patrol EDSA and its connecting major roads to ensure that motorists and commuters are safe from motorcycle-riding criminals, according to Tagum.
“Serve them with humility and kindness. In case of any problem, you will be there to protect them,” he said during yesterday’s send-off ceremony at Camp Crame.
President Duterte directed the Philippine National Police to train more police officers in using motorcycles to catch motorcycle-riding killers and robbers.
Tagum said they will maintain their presence along EDSA and other major roads 24/7.
The HPG is also training 50 Special Action Force commandos in using motorcycles.
