Female Grab driver arrested, assaulted by cop
MANILA, Philippines — A female Grab driver decried the alleged harassment by an off-duty police official in Taguig City on Tuesday night.
Mary Florence Norial, 26, was arrested after she asked Capt. Ronald Saquilayan, 51, chief of the Pateros police investigation unit, to move his vehicle that was supposedly blocking the exit driveway of a coffee shop in Barangay Ususan.
Norial said she picked up her Grab passenger in the area.
She said she was hit with a car door by Saquilayan.
But according to a police report, Norial was apprehended after she hit Saquilayan on the head.
Saquilayan said Norial was also unruly.
Norial was detained at the police station from around 7:40 p.m. on Tuesday until Wednesday afternoon.
She was accused of direct assault, alarm and scandal and disobedience to authority following the encounter.
