ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines — A barangay chairman was killed by unidentified assailants who barged into his house in Baliguian, Zamboanga del Norte on Sunday afternoon.
Joseph Tejero, 51, was taking a nap when three men arrived and shot him at close range in front of his family, according to Capt. Edwin Duco, spokesman for the Zamboanga regional police.
Tejero died at the scene from multiple gunshot wounds in the body.
The assailants did not harm Tejero’s relatives.
Responding police officers recovered four bullet shells for a .45-caliber pistol.
Probers have yet to detemine the motive for the killing.
