MANILA, Philippines — A drunk police officer was apprehended by his colleagues for allegedly firing at a motorcycle rider in Tondo, Manila on Saturday.

Members of the Manila Police District Station 1 disarmed Pat. Marlon Ace Jimenez, 29, detailed at the MPD Station 7.

According to a police report, Wally Montinola, 30, was on a motorcycle when Jimenez fired at him for no apparent reason at the corner of N. Zamora and Panday Pira streets.

Jimenez missed and fled. Montinola reported the incident to police.

During questioning, the policeman said he had no axe to grind against Montinola.

Jimenez admitted that he has personal problems.

MPD director Brig. Gen. Rolando Miranda scolded Jimenez following his arrest.

“We will not tolerate any wrongdoing by our men. If proven liable, he will be dismissed from the police service,” Miranda said.

Charges of attempted murder and indiscriminate firing have been filed against Jimenez.
