Strong aftershocks jolt Surigao Sur
MANILA, Philippines — Six aftershocks of a magnitude 5.7 earthquake that struck Surigao del Sur on Sept. 21 occurred yesterday.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said the strongest was a magnitude 5.3, which hit at around 6:10 a.m. The epicenter of the quake was located 63 kilometers off Bayabas town.
The quake was felt at Intensity 4, which is classified as moderately strong, also in Bayabas.
The other aftershocks had magnitudes ranging from 4.0 to 4.9.
Phivolcs said no damage was expected from the quakes.
