ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines — Two suspected communist rebels were killed in pursuit operations on Friday for those who killed a soldier in Kalamansig town, Sultan Kudarat.
Maj. Gen. Diosdado Carreon, Joint Task Force Central commander, said an undetermined number of rebels were believed wounded in the clash with soldiers belonging to the 37th Infantry Battalion at the boundary of Barangays Sta. Clara and Datu Ito Indong.
Carreon said the remains of the slain rebels, an M16 rifle, a shotgun, two magazines, a triggering device of an improvised bomb, medical kits and propaganda materials were recovered at the scene.
