MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police (PNP) yesterday warned lawyer Lorenzo Gadon to wear a face mask and a face shield while in public or he will be accosted for violating quarantine protocols.

PNP deputy chief for operations Lt. Gen. Guillermo Eleazar said Gadon should comply with the health and safety guidelines set by the government as a precaution against COVID-19.

“He should follow government protocols or face the consequences of his actions,” Eleazar said in text message.

Police issued the warning after Gadon was caught on video not wearing a face mask and a face shield when he was interviewed by reporters in Manila regarding the petition he filed before the Supreme Court seeking to nullify Republic Act 6639, which renamed the Manila International Airport to Ninoy Aquino International Airport.

Gadon said he does not believe in the Department of Health, which has been reminding people to follow health protocols against COVID-19.

Gadon, who is not a doctor, said the disease can be cured in the early stages of infection.

According to Eleazar, Gadon could be held liable for violating existing ordinances in Manila.

Last April, Mayor Isko Moreno signed an ordinance requiring people to wear face masks in public places.
