Laguna drug ring leader killed

MANILA, Philippines — An alleged leader of a drug syndicate operating in Laguna was killed in a reported shootout with police officers in Calamba City, Laguna  on Monday.

Police said Froilan Ibay drew his gun when he sensed he had sold shabu to undercover agents in Barangay Banlic at around 9:15 p.m.

Ibay was pronounced dead on arrival at the Dr. Jose P. Rizal Memorial Provincial District Hospital.

A .45-caliber pistol, six sachets of shabu, assorted drug paraphernalia and P1,600 in cash were reportedly recovered from the fatality.
