North Cotabato farmers to receive land titles today
MANILA, Philippines — More than 4,000 hectares of land will be awarded to beneficiaries of the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP) in North Cotabato today.
The property to be distributed is part of the reservation areas in the University of Southern Mindanao and Cotabato Foundation College of Science and Technology located in the municipalities of Arakan and President Roxas, respectively.
The property, which has a total area of 4,463 hectares, was divided among 3,035 farmer-beneficiaries who will receive certificates of land ownership awards (CLOAs), according to Reynaldo Anfone, provincial agrarian reform program officer.
These farmers are residents of six barangays in Arakan and one village in President Roxas.
“Considering the health protocols due to the pandemic, the distribution ceremony will be attended only by a select number of beneficiaries or their representatives,” Anfone said.
Agrarian Reform Secretary John Castriciones will lead the ceremony.
Those who will receive land titles are members of the Mailuminado Farmers Association Inc., Arakan Progressive Peasant Organization, Tinanan Kulamanon Lumadnong Panaghiusa, Apo Sandawa Lumadnong Panahiusa sa Cotabato and Kilusang Magbubukid ng Pilipinas.
