Parañaque compound on lockdown
MANILA, Philippines — The city government of Parañaque locked down yesterday the Silverio Compound in Barangay San Isidro due to the rising cases of coronavirus disease 2019 or COVID-19 in the area.
The lockdown, which will last until tomorrow, seeks to reduce the movement of residents and prevent the spread of the virus.
Quarantine passes issued to the residents are suspended. Only authorized persons outside of residence are allowed to go out.
City hall personnel said they would conduct mass testing, contact tracing and disinfection during the lockdown.
Mayor Edwin Olivarez said they would distribute P5,000 cash aid and food packs to the affected families.
As of Aug. 19, Parañaque logged 3,826 cases of COVID-19 with 738 active cases, 2,980 recoveries and 108 deaths.
