TACLOBAN CITY – Eastern Visayas recorded 75 coronavirus disease cases on Friday, the highest recorded in the region in one day.
The Department of Health (DOH) said half of the new cases are locally stranded individuals from Cebu and Metro Manila. One of the patients is an overseas Filipino worker from China.
There are now 1,539 confirmed cases in the region.
The DOH regional office said 993 recoveries were also recorded, reducing the number of active cases to 540 from more than 700 on Wednesday.
The youngest patient is a two-year-old boy from Tacloban City. The oldest is a 70-year-old man from Villareal, Samar.
