Over 100 fined for quarantine breach

Ric Sapnu - The Philippine Star

ANGELES CITY, Philippines — More than a hundred residents of Angeles have been fined by the city government for loitering and not wearing face masks in public.

The crackdown on quarantine violators started after Mayor Carmelo Lazatin Jr. ordered on Monday a strict implementation of the health and safety protocols imposed to contain coronavirus disease 2019 or COVID-19.

First-time offenders were fined P1,000 for loitering, not wearing face masks and going out of the house without quarantine passes.

A massive information drive was also launched by the city government to remind residents of the regulations and protocols against COVID-19.

Angeles City breached the 100th mark for COVID cases after nine new infections were recorded on Thursday.
