BAGUIO CITY, Philippines — Baguio Mayor Benjamin Magalong yesterday warned businessman against selling overpriced face shields.
The warning was issued after the city government received complaints that traders have jacked up the prices of face shields following an order requiring the wearing of the protective equipment against the coronavirus disease 2019 or COVID-19.
“I ordered the city health services office and the public order and safety division to coordinate with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) on the matter. It is unconscionable to take advantage of others especially in this time of crisis,” Magalong said.
Earlier, Magalong issued Executive Order No. 118, requiring employees in business establishments, banks and government offices to wear face shields.
On Friday, the DTI-Cordillera submitted to the city government a list of 80 business establishments selling different kinds of face shields with corresponding price ranges.
