Ex-fiscal’s son killed in Tacloban attack
TACLOBAN CITY, Philippines — A son of a former prosecutor was shot dead by unidentified assailants in this city on Friday afternoon.
Jason Golong, 43, was in his car that was parked in front of a hospital along Calanipawan Road when he was killed shortly before 1 p.m.
The victim is a son of former Tacloban City prosecutor Ruperto Golong. He died from multiple gunshots to the head and body.
Probers said the assailants used a rifle in killing the victim.
Police recovered at least 23 bullet shells at the crime scene.
Witnesses said they saw the assailants step out from another car and approach the victim’s vehicle.
Probers said the killing could be drug-related. They said the victim was on the drug list of the police.
Reports said the victim, who was arrested several times by anti-narcotics agents, was released from jail in July.
