MANILA, Philippines — Ronald Cardema, who was disqualified as a representative of the Duterte Youth party-list group, is back at the National Youth Commission (NYC) as a commissioner.
Undersecretary Jonathan Malaya, spokesman for the Department of the Interior and Local Government, confirmed Cardema’s appointment but not in his previous post as chairperson. The NYC is under the supervision of the DILG.
The Commission on Elections disqualified Cardema’s nomination in 2019 as representative of the Duterte Youth at the House of Representatives as he was already 34 years old that year.
Under the law, a youth sector representative must be between 25 and 30 years old.
