ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines — Four Vietnamese fishermen were arrested for poaching in the waters off Taganak town in Tawi-Tawi on Wednesday.

Authorities said the boat captain, Nu Oi, was wounded when he attacked one of the police officers with a knife, prompting authorities to shoot him in the leg.

His companions were identified as Ly Van Hon, Do Van Son and Le Van Tao.

Police and military personnel were accompanied by Taganak Mayor Faizal Jamalul when they checked the reported presence of poachers in the area.

Jamalul said the Vietnamese embassy had been notified on the arrest of their citizens.
