PNP files raps vs courier firm
MANILA, Philippines — Charges have been filed against local courier company J&T Express, which President Duterte ordered investigated, amid complaints of alleged mishandling of packages and violations of labor-related laws, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said yesterday.
“We have coordinated with the Department of Trade and Industry regarding the complaints against J&T Express. We filed cases for violations of Republic Act 7394 or the Consumer Protection Act and RA 11332 or the Mandatory Reporting of Notifiable Diseases against the firm,” PNP chief Gen. Archie Gamboa said.
President Duterte, in a televised public address on June 30, threatened to shut down the company following complaints of package mishandling.
A video showing personnel of J&T Express mishandling parcels and not wearing protective gear went viral on social media last month.
