MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health (DOH) has endorsed to the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) and Philippine National Police (PNP) the complaint against Sen. Koko Pimentel for allegedly breaching quarantine protocols.
Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said it’s part of the DOH guidelines to forward any complaint to the NBI and PNP.
“We are only handling administrative complaints. In the case of Senator Pimentel, there are other processes that must be observed so we endorsed it to the proper authorities,” Vergeire said at a press briefing yesterday.
The complaint against Pimentel was filed by lawyer Rico Quicho over the senator’s visit to the Makati Medical Center on March 24 despite having symptoms of the coronavirus disease 2019.
Quicho accused Pimentel of violating quarantine rules when he accompanied his wife, Kathryna, to the hospital where she was supposed to give birth the following day.
