Commercial flights resume in Iloilo
MANILA, Philippines — Commercial flights from Metro Manila will resume at the Iloilo airport in Cabatuan towns.
Iloilo Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr. said only returning overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and locally stranded individuals (LSIs) would be allowed entry into the province which remains under modified general community quarantine.
“We have border restrictions,” Defensor said.
As agreed with officials of the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) and executives of AirAsia, Cebu Pacific and Philippine Airlines, 1,500 OFWs and LSIs will be allowed to return to Iloilo per week.
Each airline can have twice-a-week flights to Iloilo, according to CAAP-Iloilo chief Manuela Luisa Palma.
At the General Santos International Airport, CAAP started on Thursday the registration and issuance of quick response or QR-coded cards to arriving passengers to facilitate contact tracing if anyone of the passengers would test positive for the coronavirus disease 2019.
CAAP spokesman Eric Apolonio said the airport has been serving two inbound and two outbound flights to Manila per week since June 11.
