MANILA, Philippines — Over 700 employees of the Metro Rail Transit Line 3’s depot station have tested negative for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) following the positive result of 15 workers of MRT-3’s maintenance provider.

After rapid antibody test was conducted on them, 766 workers were cleared of the coronavirus, MRT-3 management said in a statement.

While rapid antibody tests would continue, the rail line’s workers who might have contact with the 15 personnel would still be traced.

Management gave assurance it would continuously disinfect all its offices.

The infected personnel, all workers of MRT-3’s maintenance provider Sumitomo Corp.-Mitsubishi Heavy Industries-TES Philippines, recently learned the result of the test that found them positive for COVID-19.

One of them undertook the reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction test last June 11, wherein a PCR machine would process swab sample taken from him. He received the positive result last June 14.

The infected worker reported to work last June 8.
