2 kidnap suspects killed, cop wounded in Pampanga

MANILA, Philippines — Two suspected kidnappers were killed while a police officer was wounded in a shootout in Angeles City, Pampanga yesterday.

The fatalities, said to be Chinese-looking, have yet to be identified.

Capt. Mike Diaz suffered a gunshot wound in his right foot and was taken to a hospital for treatment.

Police said the shootout occurred when the occupants of a Hyundai Starex van refused to pull over and opened fire in Barangay Pampang around 9 a.m.

Authorities said the vehicle was used in the kidnapping of three Chinese citizens on June 1. The victims were  rescued in a follow-up operation.

Two caliber .45 pistols, a .5.56mm  rifle and the Hyundai Starex were reportedly recovered from the fatalities.
