MANILA, Philippines — Stranded worker Michelle Silvertino died while waiting for a bus ride on her way home to her family in Camarines Sur on Friday.

Police said Silvertino, 33, who worked as a housemaid in Antipolo, Rizal, was found unconscious by a concerned citizen at a footbridge along EDSA in Pasay. She was a single mother.

Reports said Silvertino walked for five days from Cubao, Quezon City to Pasay to get a ride to Bicol.

Silvertino’s photo was posted on Facebook by her friend Nathanael Alviso.

According to a police report, Silvertino suffered high fever and shortness of breath.

She was brought to the Pasay General Hospital where she was pronounced dead on arrival.

Silvertino was subjected to a swab test to check if she was infected with coronavirus disease 2019, police said. The test results remain unknown.

The Pasay government placed her body in a cadaver bag and buried her in a shallow grave.
