BACOLOD CITY, Philippines — Commercial flights to Negros Occidental will not resume until June 15.
Provincial administrator Rayfrando Diaz said the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines agreed to the request of the provincial government to delay the resumption of commercial flights at the Bacolod-Silay airport as a precautionary measure against the coronavirus disease 2019 or COVID-19.
Diaz said only sweeper flights would be allowed to fly overseas Filipino workers and stranded residents.
Philippine Airlines was supposed to resume commercial flights here on June 8.
Cebu Pacific and AirAsia did not include the Bacolod-Silay airport in their recent flight advisories.
The provincial government has its own COVID-19 testing facility at the Teresita Lopez Jalandoni Provincial Hospital in Silay.
