4 drug suspects slain; P40.9 million shabu seized
MANILA, Philippines — Four drug suspects were killed in stings in Laguna, Nueva Ecija and Cagayan de Oro on Sunday and Monday.
Lt. Col. Heryl Bruno, police chief of San Jose City, Nueva Ecija, said Wilson Cariño, who was also a member of a gun-for-hire gang, shot it out with police officers in Barangay Sto. Niño 3rd.
In Laguna, June and John Lloyd, both surnamed Bernal, allegedly drew their guns when they sensed they had sold shabu to undercover agents in Barangay San Ignacio, San Pablo City.
Junryl Cabañez, 33, fired at anti-drug operatives in Barangay Canitoan in Cagayan de Oro City, according to Capt. Julius Saluta, Agora police station chief.
Saluta said Cpl. Landemar Jaraula was wounded in the shootout.
Cabañez’s alleged cohort Grace Laorche was arrested.
Meanwhile, police said six kilos of shabu with an estimated street value of P40.9 million were seized in Bohol on Monday.
Brig. Gen. Albert Ignatius Ferro, Central Visayas police director, said two kilos of shabu valued at P13.7 million were initially recovered in Barangay Dampas, Tagbilaran City at around 5:45 p.m.
Four kilos of shabu placed in tea bags with Chinese markings worth P27.2 million were seized in Barangay Tanghaligi at around 6:15 p.m.
