MANILA, Philippines — The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) yesterday arrested businessman and social media personality Francis Leo Marcos in connection with a case filed against him in Baguio City in 2014.

Armed with an arrest warrant, members of the NBI’s cybercrime division apprehended Mangusin, real name Norman Mangusin, at his residence in a subdivision in Quezon City at around 10 a.m.

The arrest stemmed from a complaint filed by the Optometrist Association of the Philippines for violating Republic Act 8050 or the Optometry Law in Baguio City, according to NBI public information chief Nick Suarez.

Suarez said Marcos has signified his desire to post bail but was still being held since there were reports that he had other pending cases.

Marcos, who has more than one million followers on Youtube, rose to prominence after he came up with the “Mayaman Challenge,” wherein he urged his neighbors to donate to the poor at the height of the enhanced community quarantine.
