MANILA, Philippines — A kilo of shabu with an estimated street value of P6.8 million was recovered from a suspected drug dealer killed in an alleged shootout with anti-narcotics agents in San Juan, Batangas on Wednesday.

The Calabarzon police said Khalid Sahali pulled out a sub-machine gun when he sensed he had sold shabu to undercover agents in Barangay Lipahan at around 9:04 p.m.

Police said the operation stemmed from information provided by villagers on Sahali’s illegal activities.

Authorities recovered the gun used by the suspect, a motorcycle and a cellular phone.

In North Cotabato, agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) seized P680,000 worth of shabu from Ali Adapan and Usman Alangan, who were arrested in a sting in Barangay Guiling, Alamada, also on Wednesday.

Naravy Duquitan, PDEA-Soccsksargen director, said three Garand rifles, four M16s, an M14, a 40-millimeter grenade launcher, handheld radios and mobile phones were recovered from the suspects.

An alleged cohort of the suspects Pilong Selangan managed to escape.
