MANILA, Philippines — Nearly P3 million in toll at the North Luzon Expressway and Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX) have been waived for medical workers since March, according to NLEX Corp. a unit of the Metro Pacific Tollways Corp.
NLEX said 3,610 doctors, nurses and other healthcare workers have benefited from the waived toll.
It said the move was “in appreciation of the unwavering service of medical frontliners during these challenging times.”
NLEX offered toll exemptions along NLEX and SCTEX through Easytrip RFID stickers after Luzon was placed under enhanced community quarantine.
“We are delighted to help thousands of our heroes who put their lives on the line. During this extended enhanced community quarantine, we remain committed to prioritize the unhampered movement of essential workers and basic commodities,” NLEX president and general manager Luigi Bautista said.
NLEX also granted access to over 300 vehicles used by quarantine teams of the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases, Department of Health workers, medical support groups and patients brought to the “We Heal As One Center” quarantine facility at the Philippine Arena.
