MANILA , Philippines — Police confiscated P61.2 million worth of methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu from a man during a drug sting in Taguig City on Monday night.
Anti-narcotics officers of the city police and the Southern Police District seized nine kilos of shabu, a weighing scale, a mobile phone and cash from the house of Gezel Wesley Oliveros, 26, on Amihan street in Barangay Ususan.
Suspect swallows shabu
In Quezon City, a field production assistant for radio station dzBB was arrested by police after he was caught swallowing a sachet of shabu at a quarantine control checkpoint in Quezon City on Monday.
Baron Giovani Belison was driving a Nissan Frontier with the radio station’s body markings when police arrested him in Barangay Loyola Heights at around 11:30 a.m.
Brig. Gen. Ronnie Montejo, Quezon City Police District (QCPD) director, said police officers blocked Belison’s vehicle after he attempted to escape from a traffic altercation with another motorist aboard a Toyota Revo along Aurora Boulevard.
Belison, who faces charges of reckless driving and possession of illegal drugs, was brought to QCPD Station 9 for investigation. Station commander Lt. Col. Ritchie Claraval said that as of yesterday afternoon, the sachet of shabu was still inside the suspect, who reportedly admitted to being a drug user.
In a statement, the radio station said Belison works for Script, a third-party supplier of dzBB. It vowed it will never tolerate Belison’s actions and will let the judicial process take its course.
