In a statement over the weekend, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) announced that the Light Rail Transits 1 and 2 (LRT-1 and LRT-2), Metro Rail Transit-3 (MRT-3) as well as the Philippine National Railways (PNR) would operate at a reduced capacity to allow passengers to observe physical distancing.

MANILA, Philippines — Major rail lines in Metro Manila will resume operations with limited passengers if the enhanced community quarantine is lifted on May 15.

In a statement over the weekend, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) announced that the Light Rail Transits 1 and 2 (LRT-1 and LRT-2), Metro Rail Transit-3 (MRT-3) as well as the Philippine National Railways (PNR) would operate at a reduced capacity to allow passengers to observe physical distancing.

The LRT-1 will operate with only 158 passengers; LRT-2 with 160 and MRT-3 with 153.

The PNR will resume operations with 148 only passengers.

The DOTr conducted simulation of passengers inside trains by maintaining one-meter social distancing.
