BULACAN, Philippines — The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) turned over yesterday a newly constructed emergency quarantine facility (EQF) to a hospital in Bulacan in support of national government efforts to prevent the spread of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
Navy Capt. Jonathan Zata, AFP public affairs office chief, said the 15-bed airconditioned facility was turned over to the La Consolacion University General Hospital (LCUGH) in Bulakan town.
Zata said the facility was initiated by AFP civilian stakeholders and was completed through the efforts of the AFP chief engineer’s office and Philippine Air Force’s (PAF) 355th Aviation Engineering Wing.
“The EQF is designed for hospitals and institutions that are at maximum capacity to provide a proper facility for patients who need to be quarantined,” he said.
LCUGH is accepting COVID-19 patients with mild symptons.
AFP civilian stakeholders are pushing for the construction of 62 EQFs within and outside Metro Manila. Thirty-nine have so far been constructed.
The PAF is also deploying its cargo planes, C-295 aircraft, helicopters and SF-260 trainer planes to transport medical supplies to the provinces,
