Cop wanted for quarantine breach

Raymund Catindig - The Philippine Star

TUGUEGARAO, Philippines — A manhunt has been launched for a police officer who allegedly violated quarantine rules at a checkpoint in Piat, Cagayan on Saturday.

Chief M/Sgt. Reynaldo Maramag, who was in a sport utility vehicle with six passengers on board, reportedly sped away when officers manning a checkpoint in Barangay Warat asked to show their quarantine passes and identification cards.

Police said Maramag came from his hometown in Peñablanca, where he is assigned as a frontline officer in efforts to contain the coronavirus disease 2019.

Records showed that as an officer assigned at a quarantine checkpoint, Maramag had accosted several violators in his hometown, which borders the province of Isabela.
