MANILA, Philippines — Two Chinese were arrested after they were caught in the act of selling overpriced surgical face masks in Pasay City over the weekend.
Wang Yong Yi and Caroline Cheng Lee were nabbed along with their cohort Bernadette Santos during an entrapment operation along Protacio street in Barangay 97, according to Criminal Investigation and Detection Group director Maj. Joel Napoloen Coronel.
Police said the suspects allegedly sold face masks at P1,700 per box.
The trade and health departments set the standard retail price of face mask at P28 per piece.
The suspects yielded 5,110 boxes of face masks worth P86 million, police said.
