MANILA, Philippines — Two passengers died after a jeepney crashed into a truck parked along Marcos Highway in Pasig City on Wednesday night.

Jenny Ann Clarino, 21, was declared dead on arrival at the Amang Rodriguez Memorial Hospital while Joseph Amor, 45, died a few hours later at the Pasig City General Hospital.

Fifteen other persons, including jeepney driver Jay-R Labitag, 28, were rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment.

Probers said Labitag was driving along the highway’s westbound lane toward Cubao when his jeepney hit the dump truck, which was parked in front of a mall, at around 11:25 p.m.

Police said the truck was illegally parked since it had a blown tire but no warning devices set up to warn approaching motorists.

The jeepney hit the back of the truck and Clarino and Amor were pinned in their seats.

Labitag faces charges of reckless imprudence resulting in multiple homicide, multiple physical injuries and damage to property.
