HPG deploys female riders on EDSA
MANILA, Philippines — The Highway Patrol Group (HPG) of the Philippine National Police (PNP) yesterday deployed 40 female riders along EDSA to assist in anti-crime operations and ease traffic congestion along the thoroughfare.
HPG director Brig. Gen. Eliseo Cruz said the deployment is in line with the observance of National Women’s Month.
He said female police officers are equally capable as their male counterparts.
The HPG also assigned policewomen at the gates of Camp Crame in Quezon City to assist in the inspection of vehicles going inside the camp.
The initiative is in compliance with the directive of PNP chief Gen. Archie Francisco Gamboa to ensure that police officers are not using stolen vehicles.
The HPG impounded 600 motor vehicles with questionable records last year.
