Manila allots P49.3 million for Muslim cemetery
MANILA, Philippines — Manila Mayor Isko Moreno yesterday signed an ordinance that would allow the appropriation of P49.3 million for the construction of a cemetery for Muslims in the city.
The 2,400-square-meter burial ground for Muslims will rise at the Manila South Cemetery.
“The city government recognizes the cultural beliefs and traditions of our Muslim brothers, ,” Moreno said.
“Muslims in the city won’t have to go to other places in Metro Manila and Bulacan to bury their dead,” he added.
The cemetery is expected to be completed by October.
There are Muslim communities in Quiapo, San Miguel, San Andres and Port Area.
